AFABC advocates for and bring awareness to adoptive families, and we’re proud of our contribution to the positive change in adoption in the last 40 years. One of the ways we do this is by engaging the media with stories of adoption and the real faces of adoptive families.
You can help!
We are looking for adoptive families, adoptees, and birth families, who would be willing to share their family stories or speak about adoption on TV, radio, and/or press events in the coming year.
Interested? Contact Andrea at firstname.lastname@example.org or 604-320-7330 ext 108 for more details.
Qualified library volunteers help keep our resource centre organized. Let us know if you'd be interested in lending a hand.
Education event volunteers
We offer many education events through out the year - workshops, webinars, information sessions, speaker panels - so if you are interested in participating as a presenter, a panelist or helping out on the day of an event - please let us know!
Special event volunteers
We host a number of special events each year - family fun days, family camps, gala events and fundraisers - and we simply could not do it without our wonderful volunteers! If you are good at planning and organizing or have experience with fundraising and love to meet people, we want to hear from you!
Youth group volunteers
Our Speak-Out Youth Group is looking for amazing adult support volunteers! If you are a passionate and caring adult who would like to work with youth in and from care we are looking for you!
We're always looking for professional individuals interested in making a differences in the adoption community. If you are interested in becoming a member of our Board of Directors, or joining one of our committees we invite you to inquire!
Our group facilitators are individuals with adoption experience. Groups are formed in response to community needs and requests, so topics covered could vary. Facilitators will receive training, support, guidance, and resources from an AFABC adoption support coordinator. Group facilitators are expected to make a one-year commitment.
If you have other skills or experience that you would like to offer, we would be very happy to hear from you!
