Adult adoption
It's never too late to be adopted! Former youth in care and other adults who wish to legally recognize a parent/child relationship can complete an adult adoption.
Currently, prospective parents can apply to adopt an adult, age 19 or older, whom they supported before the age of 19. Proposed legislation may soon make adult adoption possible for former youth in care who make a connection after turning 19.Families that do not meet the legal requirements for adult adoption have options, too. A moral adoption ceremony or another celebration can honour your parent/child commitment and relationship.
