Adoptive Families Association of BC (AFABC) is launching its first Nobody’s Perfect Parenting program starting Saturday, June 13, 2020 until Saturday, July 18, 2020 in the mornings from 10am-12pm (noon).
- Who is it for? Adoptive and permanency parents (guardians, kinship caregivers, etc) of child(ren) aged 0-5 years.
- What’s it all about? Nobody’s Perfect Parenting offers parents and caregivers a safe place to meet other families with common interests and children in a similar age range.
- How long is the course? The course includes six sessions of 2 hour Zoom video calls (Zoom is a FREE online videoconferencing program accessible through your computer, tablet, or smart phone).
- How much does it cost? This program is free through funding from AFABC.
- Couples - please register both people if you are both planning to participate.
- Instructions on how to participate and the Zoom link will be sent out over email closer to the start date.

Nobody’s Perfect Parenting is a facilitated Parent Support Program for parents and caregivers of children from birth to age five years. We offer parents a safe place to meet others who have children of the same age and with whom they share interests and concerns. The agenda will be customized based on the learning goals of each cohort. We facilitate using a participant-centered, strengths-based approach.
Each session will build on from the previous sessions, so there will be no “drop-ins”. We will be running this group virtually over videoconferencing, so you will need to be able to access Zoom, a free, online videoconferencing program accessible through your computer, tablet, or smart phone.
Facilitators: Syd Bosel and Lucy French
Syd Bosel has been facilitating Nobody’s Perfect since she first took it as a participant, 26 years ago! Syd is also a Provincial Trainer of Nobody’s Perfect Facilitators. She is certified to facilitate video workshops for the Gordon Neufeld Institute and for “Circle of Security”. Syd has been a Family Support Worker for 25 years and most recently, has been a FASD Key Worker in Foster Parent Support.
Lucy French has been facilitating Nobody’s Perfect since 2017. Most recently she became a Family Support Worker for the Adoptive Families Association of BC. Lucy is a biological, adoptive and foster mother. Her oldest child is 29 and her youngest is 4. She has been fostering with her partner for 12 years and has had more than 40 children transition in and out of her home.
