Workshop facilitator: Lucy French, Family Support Worker
Lucy is a bio, foster, and adoptive parent! Her family includes two grown up kids and a range of littles. Lucy's areas of specialty include transitions, early childhood parenting strategies, and parent coaching.
Format: This course is composed of three 1.5-hour online workshops and three hours of self-directed homework.

Session 1 - Matching, placement, and transition

- Commitment and transitions
- Self care
Session 2 - Impacts of trauma, grief, and loss, on transitioning
- Understanding trauma, grief, and loss
- Identifying trauma triggers
- Strategies and parenting tips
Session 3 - Relationship as key to healing
- Attachment in the first two years
- Common behaviours
- Parenting strategies
Activities: Presented in an online multi-media format, activities include: live online presentations, online group discussions, watching videos, reading articles, homework assignments.
This workshop uses the MS Teams online meeting platform. The steps to join a Teams meeting can be found here.
We recommend participants view our Predictable Adjustments Webinar prior to the workshop. Concepts in the webinar will be referred to in the workshop.
Audience: The workshop is designed for prospective adoptive and permanency parents who have completed the AEP, and are in the process of completing a Home study, reviewing proposals, pending a placement, or have just been placed with a child.
Dates: June 2, 9, and 16 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Fee: $50 per person
