Online Group Participant
This is the name you use on facebook. The group coordinator will need to send a friend request to your facebook account to admit you to the group.
Adoption professionals who are also adoptive parents need support too, and we welcome you to join our “Support for the Supporters” Facebook group. This is a closed support group for professionals in the adoption community who are also parenting through adoption. Designed for AFABC support-staff members, MCFD, licensed agency and DAA social workers, and others whose professional role prevents full participation in our other AFABC parent support groups.

AFABC Facebook community guidelines

The purpose of the AFABC Facebook community is to provide a welcoming and safe place for people in the adoption community to connect, share stories, support each other, and build lasting friendships. The following guidelines are intended to support positive interaction among the members and suggest the types of behavior and activities that are encouraged on AFABC sites.
1. Be Respectful
Please extend courtesy and respect to fellow members at all times. This is a place to support each other and engage in meaningful discussion, not to judge or criticize one another. If you disagree with another’s opinion, please explain why respectfully.
2. Be Appropriate
Please keep all content in your post focused on the stated topic of the thread. If you want to talk off-topic, please do so in your own blog or Facebook page. Content that is not appropriate on AFABC’s online community includes, but is not limited to, advertising, publishing of material for which you do not own the copyright*, any content that is vulgar, obscene or contains adult themes, language or imagery. * When linking to outside content, you must ensure that the content of the link is appropriate for our community and adheres to the aforementioned guidelines.
3. Guard Your Personal Information
You must use your real name when posting to the AFABC Facebook page. We do, however, highly discourage members from posting personal information such as telephone number, home address or other specific information that may make your location easily discovered by others. If you’d like to share such information with other members, we advise you to do so with great forethought and caution, and only via the private messaging system.

It is illegal to use names or identifying information of children in the care of the British Columbia MCFD (this includes children whose adoptions have not been finalized).

4. Please Refrain from Advertising or Solicitation
It is not appropriate to advertise your business, products or services on the AFABC community in public forums, public image gallery or in comments you leave. Under no circumstances should you contact another member asking for money, help, or offering products or services.
Postings or comments violating these guidelines will be deleted and reported and the user will be at risk of losing their account. We reserve the right to ban any user without warning, and these guidelines are subject to change without notice. Because of the live nature of the discussions on this community, it is not always possible for AFABC to review and/or confirm the accuracy and/or validity of a message before it is posted. If you believe someone has violated the community guidelines, please report it immediately to editor@bcadoption.com.
