Every year, we are so incredibly impressed by the kindness and generosity of the AFABC community. As we continue to learn and grow together in 2022, we want to take a moment to say thank you for being a part of our family.

Every year, AFABC works with researchers and experts to create educational resources specifically tailored to adoptive and permanency families. Below are AFABC's two most recent resource guides. For more educational resources, and to view our entire collection of resource guides, check out the Publications page of the AFABC website. 

On November 23, AFABC was joined by Bev Viveiros, MCFD Practice Consultant, and Sarah Warkentin, Métis Family Services Adoption Worker, for Families that Fit, an Adoption Awareness Month town hall.

Big announcement regarding our Facebook Groups! As of January 1, 2022, we will be amalgamating a number of our Facebook groups. Moving forward, our Facebook groups will be:

• Waiting Parents: all are welcome! From those considering adoption to approved waiting parents. 
• All Ages: anyone currently parenting a child through adoption or other forms of permanency. Note: it’s a good idea to join this one in addition to other more specialized groups below, as some announcements for workshops or events may only be made here. 
• FASD and Complex Needs: anyone currently parenting through adoption or other forms of permanency where the child has FASD (with or without a formal diagnosis), ASD, and/or other complex needs. 
• LGBTQ Adoptive Parents: any member of the LGBTQ2S+ community who is considering adoption or is parenting a child through adoption or other forms of permanency. 
• Parenting Indigenous Children: anyone currently parenting a child through adoption or other forms of permanency where the child is Indigenous. Parents may or may not be Indigenous themselves.

As of 2021, Asian Adult Adoptees of BC (AAABC) is now the Transracial Adoptee Community (TAC). The group is now open to all transracial adoptees who are currently adults. Connect with them on Facebook and learn more.
