PASS program
The PASS program is currently on hold. Please refer to Family Support Services for adoption resources, referrals, and support.
The PASS (Parent Adoption Support Services) program supports adoptive families right before or after a child comes home, or at any point in the early years of adoption.
We accept referrals in one of two ways:
- MCFD can refer an adoptive family to PASS and PAA covers the costs for your family
- a family can self-refer and pay for the service themselves
The goals of the PASS program are to strengthen the attachment between the parent(s) and the child, decrease parent-child relationship stress, and decrease problematic behaviours in the child.
PASS achieves these goals by offering in-home or online support, counselling, and conducting child-led play therapy. The program increases parenting confidence, attachment with your child, and helps establish an overall healthy and happy start for your family.
You will follow a structured program focused on training and supporting parents in therapeutic play. A PASS counsellor will work with your family in your home or online for 12 sessions over 24-30 weeks.
