Family support

AFABC's Family Support team is here for you. We provide free, confidential support and connection to the entire adoption and permanency community at every stage of the journey. Whether you’re considering adoption and have some questions, are struggling with a parenting challenge, or just want to know you’re not alone, we’d love to connect with you.

Meet the Family Support team

Samantha Johnson, Family Support Specialist

Samantha Johnson, Family Support SpecialistHello, my name is Samantha, AKA Sam. My role is to support families throughout the province in their adoption and permanency journeys. I help families in various ways, such as 1:1 support through phone calls and video meetings, and virtual support groups. I’ll also be hosting Facebook lives and providing other educational opportunities.

I’m open to hearing from our community about ideas, topics, comments, and concerns. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for support or to share ideas. I’m excited to be a part of this community and look forward to meeting you!

Marko Osmani, Program Assistant

Marko, Family Support Program AssistantHi everyone, my name is Marko. My role is to support in answering any inquiries related to adoption and permanency across British Columbia. I also support the Family Support and Recruitment team more largely. One of my responsibilities will be to better engage our AFABC Facebook groups which I am really excited about.

A little bit about me. I am a youth-from-care and adoptee from Toronto. I was adopted through the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Program. Most of my work in child welfare advocacy has been done in Ontario. I look forward to getting to know members of our community in more depth.

Please do not hesitate to connect with me for support or to share ideas!
