New office
AFABC has moved!
As of April 1, 2023, AFABC has moved to a new office space in downtown Vancouver. This “small but mighty” new space will be used for staff meetings and other in-person collaboration; it is not open to the public.
Here is our new mailing address:
408-602 West Hastings Street
Vancouver BC V6B 1P2
Our Burnaby office is now closed.
Why the move?
During COVID, the AFABC team pivoted to support our community through virtual service delivery.
As we emerged from the height of the pandemic, we recognized that virtual service was the best way to provide accessible, inclusive support to everyone who needs us. Our community deserves provincewide access to our programs and services. And our major funders (including the provincial government) expect us to provide it.
Our staff also voiced a strong preference for continuing to work mostly from home. This gives them more time with family, saves commuting costs, reduces our environmental impact, and enables us to assemble the best possible team from a wider geographical area.
Given these changes, we have significantly downsized our Lower Mainland office and moved to a more central location.
Virtual service, in-person connections
Our primary focus is on harnessing the power of technology to provide innovative, accessible province-wide service through virtual methods.
We also recognize that in-person connections are irreplaceable, and that we still have a role to play in helping families make and keep those connections. That’s why we’re also hoping to re-ignite local volunteer networks, starting with pilots in three key regions of BC.
We look forward to sharing more in the near future as we confirm resourcing and timelines.
We're here for you
The last few years have ushered in a lot of change. What hasn’t changed is that AFABC is here for you. Wherever you live and however you’re connected to adoption, permanency, or government care, you’re part of our community.
