Are you passionate about adoption and permanence, and looking for an opportunity to make a difference in your community?

We're looking for volunteers of diverse backgrounds from across BC to join our Board of Directors. Our board members:

  • Participate in meetings and events
  • Serve on at least one Board sub-committee
  • Guide AFABC's strategic planning

We welcome board members in communities across British Columbia. Persons from outside the Lower Mainland are encouraged to apply.

Areas of expertise

Each year an assessment of the Board's current and future needs is completed to determine our recruitment needs. Though not a requirement to serve on our Board, we are looking for individuals who possess expertise in any of the following areas:

  • Aboriginal knowledge and experience
  • Legal profession
  • Fundraising
  • Business Development
  • Social Services
  • Accounting

Responsibilities

Board members are required to attend bi-monthly Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Board members are also required to sit and actively participate on one other Board sub-committee. The meeting commitments vary by committee and current initiatives of AFABC.

Eligibility

To be eligible to sit on our Board of Directors, you must be a member of the adoption community or a professional. We're always interested in finding persons who live outside of the Lower Mainland to join our Board.
