Crisis supports

The Belonging Network is not a crisis service, but there are lots of other places you can go for help.

The following crisis and information lines are free and available across BC. They can also help you find services and supports where you live.

National Suicide Crisis Helpline: 9-8-8 (no area code needed), available anytime.

Youth in BC helpline: Call 1-800-784-2433 or click here to chat. Available noon–1:00 a.m.

BC Suicide Prevention and Intervention Line: 1-800-784-2433. Available 24/7.

Kids Help Phone: Text CONNECT to 686868 or call 1-800-668-6868. Available 24/7. 

Indigenous Initiatives Network (a service of Kids Help Phone): To connect with a First Nations, Inuit, and Metis crisis responder, text Simply text FIRST NATION, METIS, or INUIT to 68 68 68 (youth) or 741 741 (adults). You will be connected with a culturally appropriate crisis responder if available.

Metis BC crisis line: 1-833-638-4722. Available 24/4.

KUU-US crisis line: 1-800-588-8717 or youth line: 250-723-2040. Available 24/7 to provide support to Indigenous people in BC. 

Here to talk: 1-877-857-3397 or 604-642-5212. Available to post-secondary students 24/7.

Youth Space: Online chat or text 778-783-0177. Available 6:00pm–midnight.

Other supports

BC Federation of Youth in Care Networks: 604.527.776 or info@fbcyicn.ca. Available 9:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday to Friday 

Foundry BC: Virtual drop in counselling sessions through chat, phone calls, or video calls. To access this service, call 1-833-F0UNDRY. Hours vary.

Representative for Children and Youth: Help and advocacy for children, youth and young adults up to age 21. Call 1-800-476-3933, text 1.778.404.7161, or email rcy@rcybc.ca. 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, Monday to Friday.

The Belonging Network’s scholarships and bursaries: We offer a variety of bursaries for youth with experience in adoption, foster care, and permanency.

Other scholarships and bursaries: Many other scholarship and bursaries are designed specifically for adoptees and former youth in care.
